Since independence in 1948, Sri Lanka has attempted to define concretely its ties with India. These attempts have passed through several stages and have been determined by numerous factors. However, not enough attention seems to have been given to how Sri Lankan perceptions of India have coloured and defined the bilateral relationship. In this paper, Mr. Uditha Devapriya tries to make sense of these perceptions in light of recent developments, such as the 2022 economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
