In this capstone, Harish Nandha RK (MPP 2026) explores India’s position in the global semiconductor industry by analysing the technological, industrial, and geopolitical factors that shape national capabilities. Using a three-pillar analytical framework and evidence from global semiconductor leaders, it identifies key gaps in India’s innovation ecosystem, manufacturing base, and strategic partnerships. The capstone argues for a phased approach that prioritises design and semiconductor assembly, testing, marking, and packaging, followed by stronger research, manufacturing, and long-term fabrication capabilities to build a resilient and competitive semiconductor ecosystem
