Minor in Public Policy and Open Elective

Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP) offers a Minor in Public Policy and Open Elective, a credit-based program open to undergraduate students of GITAM University, Hyderabad.

The Minor Program introduces students to the foundations of public policy and its applications through eight courses offered from the second to the sixth semester.

Under the Open Elective, Engineering and B.Com students can opt to take one course from the Minor Program in the respective semester in which it is offered.

The curriculum builds strong conceptual understanding through interactive classroom learning while encouraging students to connect policy concepts with current affairs.

Taught by accomplished faculty and practitioners, the courses emphasize an inter-disciplinary approach that equips students with theoretical, empirical and decision making skills, preparing them for careers in applied public policy and higher studies.

Program Details

Subject to seat availability, Engineering and B.Com students of the Hyderabad campus may enrol in courses from the Minor in Public Policy offered by the Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP) under the Open Elective category. From the third to the sixth semester, students may choose one course from the KSPP Minor in each semester and earn the corresponding course credits upon successful completion.

Over the course of their undergraduate studies, students complete a series of eight three-credit courses spread across the second to the sixth semester. These courses offer an interdisciplinary learning experience that bridges academic frameworks with real-world applications.

Students looking to bridge technical education with social impact can opt for select courses from the Minor in Public Policy as Open Electives. Engineering students can take one Public Policy course per semester and will earn the respective course credits upon completion, seamlessly integrating policy studies into their engineering curriculum.
