Kautilya colluquy 2023
Colloquy 2023 successfully convened public policy professionals from across the country for a full day of learning, knowledge exchange, and collaborative problem-solving. The event comprised two core components:
1. Paper Presentation
Topic: Equity in Times of Growth – A Pathway for India
The Kautilya School of Public Policy (KSPP) announced the inaugural edition of its national-level research paper presentation competition, designed exclusively for post-graduate students. The competition aimed to examine the crucial intersection of economic growth and equitable development.
It provided a platform for students across varied institutions to apply research-driven thinking in evaluating policy challenges situated between business, government, and society.
Participants explored the importance of ensuring equity during phases of rapid economic expansion and assessed how policy progress can support fair and inclusive outcomes for all sections of society.
KSPP provided an opportunity for emerging researchers to present their work before a diverse panel of internal experts and visiting scholars engaged in interdisciplinary policy research across governance, law, gender, environment, education, human rights, media, and development.
Sub-themes included:
- Government and Business
- Human Rights, Law, and Democracy
- Economics for Development
- Governance and Society

2. Climate Negotiation Simulation
Theme: Ecological Degradation: A Threat to International Peace and Security
The simulation addressed the alarming rise in ecological degradation— manifested through dying ecosystems, declining biodiversity, pollution, accumulation of microplastics, and the over-extraction of natural resources. These indicators underscored the urgent need for collective global action.
In this context, Switzerland, serving as a first-time non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, proposed initiating deliberations on the issue during the Council’s informal consultations scheduled for September.
